She speaks! Reality TV maven and momager Kris Jenner finally broke her silence on Wednesday, June 24, about Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover, which featured the former Olympian for the first time ever as a transgender woman.
The mother of six, 59, showed up to the Daily Mail's yacht party in Cannes, France, with her boyfriend Corey Gamble, where she spoke to
Extra about the mega moment involving her former spouse once known as Bruce.
Kris, who herself looked lovely in a moonlight gray chiffon gown at the star-studded bash, praised Caitlyn's Annie Leibovitz-shot VF cover as "beautiful."
"I think it's amazing," she continued of her ex's transition from
male to female. "I think that someone following their dream is truly
inspirational to a lot of people…. you have to do what makes you happy."
While Kris spoke kindly about Caitlyn on Wednesday, the VF cover story written by
Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger revealed a more tense side to their relationship.
"He was married to me and he wasn’t who he wanted to be so he was
miserable," Kris told the mag, adding that Caitlyn's gender dysphoria
wasn't properly explained to her until after they divorced in 2014. "Why
would you want to be married and have kids if this is what you wanted
since you were a little boy?" she asked Bissinger rhetorically. "Why
would you not explain this all to me?"
Caitlyn, 65, meanwhile, insisted that the reality family matriarch
knew about her dressing in women's clothing and her hormone use for many
years -- long before Kris claimed she found out.
Despite the slightly different version of events, Caitlyn tweeted
that the 23 years of marriage she shared with Kris had its finer
moments. "Reading the VF article reminded me of the love & good
times Kris & I shared for so many years," the decathlete wrote on
June 12. "Wouldn’t trade that time for anything!" The couple share two
kids, Kendall, 19, and Kylie, 17.
For her first Father's Day as a woman, Caitlyn celebrated the holiday on Sunday, with five of her kids Burt, Brandon, and Kendall, her supportive stepdaughters Kim and Khloe, as well as Kanye West, Leah Jenner, and little North West.
