Prince Charles "Thrilled" That Kate Middleton Is Pregnant Again, Hopes It's a "Girl This Time"
Smiles all around! Prince Charles spoke for the first time since Kensington Palace revealed Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is pregnant again. The future king exclaimed how "wonderful" it is to be a grandfather again and how he hopes it's a girl this time around during a visit to the Prince's Trust Project in south London on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
After well-wishers mentioned the Duchess of Cambridge's pregnancy news, Charles said he was "happy" and "thrilled" that Middleton and his son Prince William are expecting baby No. 2.
"It's not here yet!" Charles said, before continuing, "No, it's wonderful. We are very happy. It's splendid, very exciting." The royal added: "I hope it will be a girl this time." In a statement previously given to Us Weekly, the Palace shared: "The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news."
Despite the excitement, the Palace also revealed that Middleton is once again suffering from severe morning sickness in her first trimester.
"As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum … The Duchess is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace," the statement read. "[Middleton] is at home being looked after by the surgeon gynecologist to the Queen, Alan Farthing, and the surgeon gynecologist to the royal household, Guy Thorpe-Beeston."
