Clooney 'Considers Run For California Governor'

Clooney 'Considers Run For California Governor'
George Clooney is reported to be considering following in the footsteps of a certain Austrian actor by running for governor of California.
The Gravity star is being courted by US President Barack Obama's Democratic party to make a bid for office in 2018, according to the Daily Mirror.
Clooney became engaged to London-based lawyer Amal Alamuddin in April and the couple are expected to marry in September.
It is reported that Ms Alamuddin would be prepared to relocate to the US if her husband-to-be does intend to forge a career in politics.
There have been many rumours about where the couple will tie the knot with Italy thought to be a strong contender. Clooney owns a home in Lake Como where he spends a lot of time.
The actor is not a stranger to the world of politics in Washington DC. He has met Mr Obama on a number of occasions, including at a screening of his film, The Monuments Men, at the White House earlier this year.
Clooney is an active campaigner on a number of issues and was a UN Messenger of Peace for six years until April.
He has been outspoken about the Darfur crisis in Sudan and on conflicts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
And he is not the first Hollywood star to make the move from film set to government.
Ronald Reagan had a successful television and film career before he won the California governorship in 1964 and 1970. He was then president for two terms in the 1980s.
Arnold Schwarzenegger became known as the "Governator" after he was first elected as a Republican in 2003 and again in 2007.
It has been reported that he has been campaigning for a change to the constitution which would mean citizens born outside the US could run for office as president.
