This is surely not the best of the season for Pastor William Kumuyi led Deeper Life Bible Church as Governor Ibikunle Amosun led Ogun government demolished their multi-million naira church headquarters at Ota in Ogun State.
It was revealed that the incident occurred about two weeks back. We gathered that the auditorium which sits on two plots along Ahmadiya road, Ota, Ogun State, fell prey to bulldozers and left worshippers stranded.
According to our source, they were shocked when the auditorium valued at N200 million was demolished. The reason was that when government was expanding the road, they only earmarked the ministry’s fence for demolition which was done about a month ago.
However, on February 21, 2014, it was confirmed that the auditorium was pulled down for the purpose of expansion. We gathered that there is a massive development of all
roads within Ado-Odo Ota local government and after due consultation, the governor, who came personally to inspect the multibillion road projects had an agreement with the church leaders on the need to expand the road more for the good of the community. Therefore, the church should forfeit the area but will be hugely compensated. Although, the exact amount to be paid as compensation was not revealed, we learnt it’s close to N500million considering the location.
Meanwhile, we reliably gathered that the church has decided to relocate temporarily to its national camp auditorium newly built along toll gate road, Ota, Ogun State.
On Friday, February 21, 2014, the ministry’s spokesperson, Pastor Olalekan, confirmed the development.
“Yes, it’s true but I can’t tell you that there is no issue between us and the government as speculated. We came into mutual agreement and they have agreed to compensate us. Thus, there is no problem.”
