RAPPER OLAMIDE ESCAPES INTERNET SCAM

olam
According to the ‘Durosoke’ singer’s Instagram post this morning (February 5, 2014) , he received an email congratulating him for being the lucky winner  of 500,000 pound sterlin in a supposed ‘Yearly Pepsi Lottery Promotion in United Kingdom, which is organized by Pepsi in conjunction with  Chevron Texaco Oil and Gas.’
But Olamide, who claims he’s been familiar with such antics by internet fraudsters since his secondary school days, knew the message was a scam.
“Lol no be lacasera n chevron again, ds format done Tay … Since secondary schooldays… Skammas dey send me mail smh.. Shey I buy Pepsi nii??? Awon Werey (mad people),” Olamide wrote on the picture sharing medium.
Scam mails, which has been dubbed ‘format,’ are sent to potential victims, enticing  them with the lie that they have won a huge amount of money (as seen in Olamide’s case) and ask the unsuspecting victims to pay certain fees to different agents, like a lawyer, bank representative…in order to claim the prize they won.
Thousands especially foreigners have fallen victim to these scams.
