Paul Walker's brother is helping to keep the star's legacy alive.
The
late "Fast & Furious" star's 25-year-old lookalike brother, Cody
(above center), has assumed the role of brand manager for Paul's
charity, Reach Out WorldWide. He made the announcement on Instagram on Sunday, posting a sweet photo of himself with his two brothers (also including newlywed Caleb, right) and thanking fans for their love.
"My family and I truly appreciate the support we have received during this difficult time," wrote Cody, who lost his brother in a fiery car crash
over Thanksgiving weekend. "One of the many things I admired about my
brother was his genuine desire to help others in need. As many of you
know, in 2010 @paulwalker founded @reachoutww, a disaster relief
organization. It is with great honor that I have decided to join the
ROWW team as Brand Manager. I look forward to working with like-minded
individuals and partners to ensure ROWW continues to aid those in need
in the years to come.
"As Paul
would say, 'When you put good will out there, it's amazing what can be
accomplished.' We can all make a difference in this world and I am
honored to join the ROWW team in fulfilling my brother's legacy and
ensure that the good my brother did lives on."
The announcement is receiving quite the enthusiastic response — the post has over 3,500 likes so far.
Paul, 40, had attended a charity event for ROWW
in Santa Clarita, California, when he and his friend Roger Rodas were
killed in a fatal car crash. The 2005 PorscheCarrera GT, which Rodas was
driving, was traveling at over 100 miles per hour when it crashed into a tree. Both men sustained extensive injuries, including severe burns, and died almost immediately.
The
"Varsity Blues" star was on a holiday break from filming "Fast &
Furious 7" when he died. The movie will be finished, the studio
announced, but the release date was pushed back to April 2015.
There has been lingering and widespread online gossip that Cody, who is
not an actor, could step in for his brother and help complete the role,
but it's just a rumor … so far.
Paul was the oldest of four siblings — two brothers and a sister, Ashley — and served as best man in 36-year-old Caleb's wedding
a month before he died. Photos from the family's special day were
released following Paul's death. He appeared to be in a celebratory mood
as he stood up for his brother as best man. Another photo showed Paul
and Cody toasting Caleb.
